Faisal Younas, 35, is accused of shaking Alishba Younas to death at his family's Glasgow home in September 2005. He is also charged, along with his wife, 34-year-old Bano Younas, of neglecting the child. The couple deny all the charges.
The child was only 8-months old. They appeared before Glasgow High Court accused of failing to feed the baby properly and dress her in clean clothes.
The girl, Alishba, born on Christmas Day 2004, was taken to Glasgow's Yorkhill Hospital with head and neck injuries on September 16 2005.
The child died two days later.
