Baby Wean

Weaning is the process of gradually replacing breastmilk with other ways of providing nutrition. How long you use breastmilk is up to you. There is no minimum length of time nor is there an age by which your baby should be weaned.

Weaning is always best done gradually. Weaning before your baby is able to take solids, would involve the introduction of a substitution to breastmilk. Over a number of days you can increase the amount of formula milk the baby takes and reduce the amount of breastmilk.

If you just substitute the breastmilk suddenly, this may result in painful breasts for you and an unhappy baby.
